Preface of rabilyrics

Rabindranath began writing poems at the age 7/8.

His first written Drama was '" Prithwiraj Parajay" at his age of twelve. But the manuscript was lost. He first translated "Kumarsambhab" from Sanskrit and Macbeth from English to Bengali in poetry form before his teacher Jnanchandra Bhattacharya.
His written poem "Avilash" was first published in Tattwabodhini. His first written lyric is, " jwal, jwal, chita dwigun, dwigun" written for  the drama "Sarojini" written by Jyotirindranath.
Rabindranath from the age of 13 ['gaganer thale Rabi chandra Dipaka jwale"] to the age of 80 [ "he nutan dekha dik aar-baar.."] wrote 2178 songs of which some about 550 songs have swaralipi but Swagatakaksi dasgupta said something about 187 are sung.
.
His first published songs that came to light in 1292 in the title "Rabicchaya". Though Geeti Natya was created and published earlier. In his life time, Rabindranath could not publish Geetabitan [3rd Volume]. In 1300 he published Gaaner Bahi which includes "Balmiki Prativa", a dance drama.
Then the Rabindra Kabya took the shape as Kabyagrantha edited by Mohit Chanda Sen. the eighth volume of this Kaqbya Grantha contained Gaan. His collection of songs then publiswhed in 1310. The duty of editing Geetabitan was given to Sudhir Chandra Kar and Amiya Chakraborty was his adviser. He rote that in this series the total of 1128 songs was published in 1st and 2nd volume. These two volumes contained songs created within  1330. The last portion of the 2nd volume contained songs of "Basanta' which was dedicated to Nazrul.
This attempt , "rabilyrics",  is to search for the background of the creation of these songs.
In doing so the writer took the help of " youtube", internet, and of available books written by Rabindranath and others. I am also thankful to my relatives and friends who assisted me in this connection.
