The first lyric of Rabindranath was
" jwal,jwal, chita dwigun, dwigun"
. This lyric was created on the occasion of construction of the famous Drama ,
"Sarojini ba Chitore Akraman Natak"
written by Jyotirindranath . Rabindranath did not express
anywhere about his writing . It is Jyotirindranath who at the request of
Basanta Kumar Chattopadhyaya wrote in his memoirs
This drama was published on 30th Nov 1875 [ mangal 15 ,1282]. When
Rabindrantah was 14.
Here it can be mentioned that the Re-union of ex-college student was started in Jan
1875. Its second session was started on 31 Jan 1876 on the occasion of Saraswati
Puja and Rabindranath being an ex-student of St Xavier's College School recited
this poem on this occasion at Emarald Bower at Sinthe.
It is worthy to note that in the printed book " Jatiya Sangeet Pratham
Bhag" of J.P.Roy and Co. this song was placed in the list of 29 songs.
It was shown in a scene that the girls of Chitore getting up to their
burning funeral pyre singing the song. At that
time kindled fire was set in the
stage as there was no electric fire.
"Bangalir
Gaan" edited by Durgadas Lahiri mentioned the song as written by
Jyotirindranath Thakur.
